Community ParkThe Channahon Park District received a 2010 Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Grant funding totaling $400,000 will be used for improvements at Community Park, the District's largest and first park.
Located on McClintock Road, east of I-55; Community Park was initially developed in the late 70's and early 80's. Improvements include:
reconstruction of the two tennis courts and one basketball court in the park
paved ADA accessible walking access to the Oak Grove picnic area, and ADA accessibility to the washroom facilities by the main playground
construction of a new splash pad
a new play area, horseshoe and bags courts, and an amphitheater in the Oak Grove picnic area
bird habitat and interpretive features
