Hayride & Spooky Stories in the Park – Free Event!
Friday, October 22
Join us for a beautiful fall fire for smores and spooky stories at Community Park. Take a hay wagon ride around Community Park and peer into the woods to see if any ghosts are roaming about. All happenings will be spooky and fun, but not too scary for little ones.
Saturday, October 23
Heritage Crossing Field House
Grab your friends for a frightening fun night and join us for this terrifying black light event. We’ll have a costume contest, DJ, games, a concession stand and more! It’s encouraged that all participants wear a costume or something that will glow under the fluorescent lights. Must have a minimum of 30 registered by October 20.
Deadline: Minimum of 30 pre registered by October 20
Channahon Park District’s Week of Giving
The Channahon Park District would like to invite the members of our community to participate in our Week of Giving as we extend a helping hand this holiday season and offer a variety of ways to give back.
Locations: Donation boxes will be available all week long at Arrowhead Community Center and Heritage Crossing Field House.
Monday Munchies – November 15
Non-perishable food items such as canned goods and boxed food items will be collected for local Micro-Pantries. Please check the
expiration date before making your donation.
Toiletry Tuesday – November 16
We will collect toiletries such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, etc. Items for babies are always welcome! These items help families at the Ronald McDonald House feel at home while they are focusing on the child’s health.
Winter Wednesday – November 17
We will collect all things needed for keeping warm in the winter months including winter coats, mittens/gloves, scarves, hats, snow pants, boots, blankets, and sweaters. All items will be donated to Chanooka Wish.
Pop Tab Thursday – November 18
Start saving your pop tabs and we’ll donate them to the Ronald McDonald House.
Furry Friend Friday – November 19
We will be giving back to our furry friends at local animal shelters. The ultimate gift would be a home for the holidays, but dry and canned food, treats, kitty litter, and toys are a big help.
Smile and Laugh Saturday – November 20
End the week with new blankets, toys, and games for the families of the Ronald McDonald House! These items will help bring comfort and a moment of calm to the families staying there. (Blankets can be any size and all material types are welcome).
November 26-December 5
Arrowhead Community Center
Santa’s elves will install a mailbox at Arrowhead Community Center November 26-December 5 and will take the mailbox back to the North Pole after the Channaholidays Winter Celebration event! He has informed the Park District that he will write back to all children that put a letter into this mailbox. His only request is that all children include a self-addressed, legible, stamped envelope!
Channaholidays, A Winter Celebration
Sunday, December 5
Channahon Village Hall/Central Park
Brought to you by the Village of Channahon, Channahon Park District and Three Rivers Public Library District.
Kick off the winter season with the Channahon Park District, Village of Channahon, and Three Rivers Library to celebrate all things winter! Play a game of Winter Bingo, decorate a cookie with way too many sprinkles, grab a hot chocolate, stroll the luminary walk, enjoy a carriage ride, make a holiday craft, stuff your pockets at the candy cane scramble, and enjoy performances from local student groups. Finish the evening off with the lighting of Channahon’s holiday tree!
