Potato Festival

Saturday September 23 • 3:00-8:00 PM
Central Park

Returning this fall, the Channahon Potato Festival is a joint event between the Village of Channahon, Channahon Park District, and the Three Rivers Public Library District.
That’s right, we will be celebrating the infamous Channahon Potato Rocks again this year! The fun filled day will include children’s activities, food trucks (featuring potato themed dishes), a car show, and Brass From The Past playing into the evening!

Movie in the Park – Community Park

Friday September 29 • 6:30 PM
Ronald D Lehman Community Park

Pack your snacks, bug spray and blankets into the wagon and head to the park! We are bringing Jumanji to the big screen at Community Park. In the event of inclement weather movie may be rescheduled, updates will be provided on Channahon Park District social media. Movies will start at dusk (approximately 6:30 pm).

Scarecrow Adventure Trail

October 1 – 20
Central Park

Come walk the Central Park path and see the Channahon Scarecrows in their natural habitat. Enjoy the creativity of local scout groups, businesses, and families as they helped to make Central Park festive for fall! This is event is weather permitted and is free for all to enjoy!

Interested in constructing a scarecrow? Scarecrow Construction – September 27-30

Take part in the Central Park Scarecrow Adventure Trail by sponsoring and building a scarecrow with your family, friends, business partner, scout group, club, or teammates along the path at Central Park. For a fee of $15 you will be assigned a frame location along the Central Park trail. Straw will be provided for your scarecrow construction. You supply the creativity and décor to make your scarecrow festive. Please keep all content family friendly. Décor will not be held for return.

Egg Hunt 2022

Hayrides, a Movie, & S’mores Galore

Friday October 13 • 6-8 PM
Central Park

Come and celebrate some fall fun with us. The best way to celebrate a beautiful fall evening is enjoying a fire and s’mores with friends, family and neighbors. There will be hayrides around Central Park to visit the Scarecrow trail created by our talented community. As dusk approaches, a staff favorite movie will be playing. Grab a s’more and watch the movie!

BOO! at the Bluffs 5K

October 28 • 4:30 PM
The Bluffs

BOO! Run or walk your way up, down, and around The Bluffs cart path for our Inaugural Boo at The Bluffs 5K!
Runners will receive a chip-timed race, t-shirt, soup & chili bar, drink coupon and dessert at the s’mores bar! You’ll enjoy music and the incredible views on The Bluffs new patio!
Runners are encouraged to wear their best Halloween Costume! Awards will be given to top overall male and female runner! The top 3 in each age group will receive their award in the mail. Register early because the race will be limited to the first 250 participants!

Register before October 8 to guarantee your shirt size! No race day registration.

Week of Giving

November 13-19
Arrowhead Community Center and Heritage Crossing Field House

The Channahon Park District would like to invite the members of the community to participate in our Week of Giving as we extend a helping hand this holiday season to those in need. We are offering a variety of ways to give back!
Monday Munchies – November 13
Non-perishable, non-expired food items such as canned and boxed food will be collected for local micro-pantries. Please be sure to check the expiration date before donating.
Toiletry Tuesday – November 14
We will collect travel size toiletries such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoos, and like items for babies and families that stay at the Ronald McDonald House to make them feel at home while they are focusing on their child’s health and wellness. Travel size items are requested.
Warrior Wednesday – November 15
We will collect items for the women and children who are currently staying at local shelters, trying to get back on their feet. The items requested are women’s products, diapers and wipes, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, and Uber gift cards.
Pop Tab Thursday – November 16
Start saving those pop tabs! We will collect and donate them to the Ronald McDonald House. Each pound of pop tabs gets the Ronald McDonald House $.50 to keep costs down for families staying there. Save, Save, Save!!
Furry Friend Friday – November 17
Although we can’t give every furry friend a home for the holidays, we can give them gifts and donations to help them feel at home. Please consider donating dry food, non-expired wet food, treats, kitty litter, puppy pads, and toys. Local animal shelters are furever grateful for all donations!
Snuggle up Saturday – November 18
Help bring comfort and a moment of calm to the families and siblings staying at the Ronald McDonald House. We will collect NEW blankets for the families. Each family receives a new blanket on each bed upon check-in and gets to take it home with them when they leave! Blankets of all sizes and materials are welcome!
Sunday Funday – November 19
We will collect NEW board games and puzzles to donate to the Ronald McDonald House and Toys for Tots!

Santa’s Mailbox

November 25 – December 16
Arrowhead Community Center

Santa’s elves will leave a mailbox outside of Arrowhead Community Center and will take the mailbox back to the North Pole after the Channaholidays Winter Celebration! He has informed the Park District that he will write back to all the good boys and girls that put a letter into this mailbox with a self-addressed, stamped envelope!

Sunday December 3 • 2:00-6:00 PM
Central Park • Arrowhead Community Center • Village Hall

Kick off the winter season with the Channahon Park District, the Village of Channahon, and Three River’s Public Library District to celebrate all things winter. Visit Santa Claus, fill your pockets at the candy cane scramble, decorate a cookie with way too many sprinkles, enjoy a carriage or hay wagon ride, make a holiday craft, enjoy performances from local student groups and witness the lighting of Channahon’s own holiday tree!
