Challenge Tennis Academy Tennis Lessons

Channahon Park District is excited to have Challenge Fitness of Lockport here to run tennis lessons and programs this summer. The tennis pros of Challenge Fitness are certified and teach tennis year-round to all levels and ages.

Junior Beginner and Advanced Junior Beginner

The program utilizes smaller courts, lighter balls, and shorter nets for younger players to learn tennis easier and quicker just as other sports use different equipment and supplies given the ages of the participants. The program was created by the USTA and all staff are highly trained in the new format.

Players at this level can hit a forehand and backhand consistently and are starting to play points. Participants should provide their own racquet.

Family Archery

Students and parents will have the opportunity to develop the skills needed for Archery and learn this unique Olympic sport. Learn about safety, equipment and shooting. Parents are encouraged to register and participate with their child. All equipment for this program will be provided, however you may use your own equipment with the approval of the instructor.

Ryukyu-Kempo Karate

Ages 5-11 years
Let Sensei John Ventura of the Bob Golden School of Self Defense teach you the art of Ryukyu-Kempo Karate using real life situations. Karate will not only help you defend yourself but will teach you self-respect, self-discipline, mental focusing and physical development. Instructed by John Ventura, 7th Degree Black Belt.

Roller Skating/Blading Lessons

Ages 4-12, will be grouped based on ability
Help your child learn to enjoy this healthy, lifelong activity by ensuring that they learn how to skate in a relaxed, encouraging environment. In just a few weeks, your child will be skating like a pro! Class is taught to match the pace of the students and will cover basic skating movements, the safest way to fall, and some fun games to get the kids excited. Free wifi available while parents wait. Register by the Monday before class begins.

Beginning Tumbling

Ages 6-10 years
Children will be taught tumbling fundamentals of forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, handstands and be introduced to backbends.Tumblers will gain coordination, strength, flexibility and confidence. This class is recommended before registering for Beginner II Tumbling.

Beginning II Tumbling

Ages 6-10 years
Want to learn more advanced tumbling? Then this is the class for you. Participants will be refreshed on basic tumbling skills like forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, handstands and backbends. New skills will also be introduced such as the round off, forward and back walkovers and much more. Participants will gain coordination, strength, flexibility and confidence. This class is for those who have prior tumbling experience.

Indoor Floor Hockey League

3rd-6th Grade
This fun, new league is a great way for boys and girls to get involved in the great sport of hockey. Teams will practice once a week with games played on Saturdays. Equipment will be provided but eye protection must be purchased, which we will have available for purchase. Shin guards are optional. Practices will begin the week of October 15th with first games being November 3rd. Volunteer coaches needed!

Off-Season Girls Softball Clinic

Ages 5-14 years
The off-season girls’ softball clinic is a place for kids to learn basic rules, drills and skills of softball in a fun and social environment. This clinic-style program is designed to be instructional and developmentally appropriate by teaching throwing, hitting, pitching and fielding techniques. This program is geared for children that may be new to softball or seasoned players looking to improve their skills. Instructed by Bill Mikuska.
