Summer Fun for Tweens & Teens!

Zombie Survival Camp

Grades 4th-6th (2019-2020 school year)
Hone your survival skills to prepare for 21st century disaster in this 3 day camp for adventurous kids! You’ll learn to build a shelter, find your way in the wilderness, and assemble the necessary tools to survive any situation. On the last day, you will test your zombie survival skills with a water gun war of humans vs. zombies. Pre-registration is required and all participants must sign the Zombie Survival Camp waiver before the first day of camp.

Experienced Boy Scouts Wanted: If you are looking for a fun volunteer opportunity this summer we have just the camp for you! We are looking for Zombie Survival Camp Captains to help lead our zombie survivalist into the wilderness. If you are in grades 7th-12th and you would like to volunteer, please call the Park District at 815-467-7275.

Guard Start an American Red Cross Class

Ages 11-14 years
The American Red Cross Guard Start: Lifeguarding Tomorrow program is available to youth ages 11-14 years that have the desire to learn about the responsibilities and duties of a lifeguard. This program will help your child build a foundation of knowledge, attitudes, and skills to become a future lifeguard. Your child will receive instruction in fitness, prevention, response, leadership, professionalism, and swimming skill development.

Babysitting Certification

Ages 11-14 years
This course will prepare young people for the responsibility of babysitting according to the American Red Cross. Future babysitters will learn how to supervise children, apply simple first aide, diapering, and more! Participants will also learn how to interview for a job and what parent expectations are of a good babysitter. Please bring a teddy bear or doll to class along with a sack lunch. This class is instructed by Karen Cooper.

Beginning Robotics

Ages 9-11 years
Join this fun class building your own interactive robots to take home and keep. Students will start out making small micro vibrobots and work their way up to a larger bot. They will learn basics of robotics, soldering, coding and sensors that are used in robots. They will have new bots to take home every week. Robot kit and other materials included.

Outdoor Summer Games – NEW!

Ages 8-12 years
Join us for a day of outdoor fun in the sun! We will play life size Jenga, test our sill in slip and slide bowling, compete in water gun relay races and get messy in a paint slip and slide! Bring a white or light colored shirt for painting and a bath or beach towel for drying off. Instructed by Jennifer Peppmuller and Tiffany Pekoc.

Beach Inspired Art – NEW!

We’re celebrating the warm summer days with a fun night of summer art and snacks! We will paint a beautiful beach canvas and add our own sandy footprint and make beach pudding cups snacks complete with water and a sun tanning teddy graham. Instructed by Jennifer Peppmuller and Tiffany Pekoc.

Ages 13-17 years
Call up your friends to enjoy a day of crafting! It doesn’t matter if you are crafty or not. Products are designed for any crafting ability. Let us bring out your creative side with a wide array of Chalkboards, Chalk Transfers and Chalk Paste. Create your own masterpiece with Chalk It Up! We’ll supply you with everything you need to complete a finished work of art to take home.

Junior Golf League

Ages 13-18 years
Heritage Bluffs will sponsor a Junior Golf League! This will be a competitive league and participants will play 9 holes each week on Monday afternoon for which they will be charged a junior resident green fee each time they play. On Monday, August 5, there will be a two-person scramble for which each participant may bring a guest to partner with at no cost. The scramble will be followed by dinner. All participants MUST attend a golf rules and etiquette meeting at 7 PM on Tuesday, May 28 at Heritage Bluffs Public Golf Club.

High School Golf Academy

This group lesson is designed to target the student who is interested in trying out and playing high school golf. In this program the golfer will get to meet and work with not only the professional staff at Heritage Bluffs, but local high school golf coaches. Together we will tackle what it takes to play golf in high school and learn what coaches are looking for in their players. Players will learn course management, the mental approach to the game as well as tips to aid consistency in long game, short game, and driving.

Teen Trips!

All teen trips depart from Central Park Pine Pavilion (closest to Galloway School). Trips are for kids 10 years and up! Registration will not be accepted after the Wednesday before the trip.

Sky Zone in Joliet

Ages 10 years & up
See how high you can jump in this indoor trampoline facility! We will bounce around on the main trampoline court, rock climb, jump in foam pits, and master the Ninja Warrior course! Parents and participants must sign an extra wavier online. Lunch, transportation, and socks are included in the registration fee.

Raging Waves in Yorkville

Main Event in Warrenville

Must be at least 48 inches tall for this trip
This is a trip you won’t want to miss! We’ll play a game of laser tag, bowl, conquer the gravity ropes AND play in the arcade. Each participant gets a $10 FUNcard and pizza for lunch. Be sure to bring extra money if you’d like to play more games in the arcade or to purchase a snack in the concession stand.

Cypress Cove in Woodridge

It’s going to be a hot one! Join us for the day as we head to Woodridge Park Districts’ Water Park. We’ll relax in the lazy river, have fun going down multiple tube and body slides, drop slides, and much more! Don’t forget to grab your towel and sun-block. Participants may bring extra money if they would like to purchase food while at Cypress Cove or bring a lunch.

Train to Chicago

There is a first time for everything! We will hop on the train and head down to Chicago to spend the day at Maggie Daley Park. There is plenty to do when we are there. Participants should bring a swimsuit and towel if they plan to get wet. Lunch and transportation is included in this trip.

Matthiessen State Park

We are going out and about and going to explore nature. Leave the technology at home and come with us and we go on different trails at the Matthiessen State Park. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as there will be lots of walking. Don’t forget to pack a lunch and a water bottle to stay hydrated.

Zipline

Always wanted to go zip lining? Well we will take you there where an adventure awaits. The tour has different cables each with its own characteristic of speed, heights, and great oversights below. Centennial Beach in Naperville

Ages 10 years & up
It’s not a swimming pool; it’s not a lake, but a swimming experience like no other! Wade into the zero-depth entry and swim to depths of 15 feet. This trip is the perfect way to hang out with your friends before camp ends. Participants may bring extra money if they would like to purchase snacks at the beach. Be sure to bring a lunch, swim suit/towel and sunscreen to this trip.
